Dosage of Mebendazole
Follow all directions on the recipe label. Do not take this medicine in large or small quantities, or longer than recommended.
The tablet can be swallowed, chewed or chopped and mixed with food.
Use this medicine for the entire prescribed period of time. Your symptoms can improve before the infection is completely cleared. Missed doses can also increase the risk of further infection, which will be resistant to antibiotics. Mebendazole will not treat a viral infection, such as flu or cold.
You may need to take this medication within 1-3 days, depending on the condition that you are treating. However, it can take up to 3 weeks before the infection is completely cleared.
Often, wash your hands and nails, especially before eating or after using the bathroom.
If the condition does not improve within 3 weeks, you may need a second treatment.
To prevent re-infection, follow your doctor’s instructions for disinfection of your home and thoroughly wash all clothes, bed linen and towels. Your family members or other people in your family may also need treatment with Mebendazole or other medications. Infection can easily spread from one person to another.
You can not cure worms with hunger, using laxatives or forcing yourself to vomit. For best results, take this medication as directed.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Seek emergency medical help for an overdose.
Symptoms of overdose may include stomach pain, loss of appetite, dark urine, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Leave it if it’s time for the next scheduled dose. Do not take additional medication to make up for the missed dose.
Call your doctor if you miss more than one dose of this medication.
